Our Programs

A safe place to gather:

Youth Bible studies and recreation outreach: Reaching the youth of Central City New Orleans has always been and will always be the priority for us at Urban Impact.

Each week youth from our neighborhood have the opportunity to attend Bible studies prepared to bring them into a fruitful relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Bible studies, lead by Tyrone Christoph (an alumni of our programs), combine solid Biblical teaching with fun activities.

  • Monday: 6 p.m. One One Six going deeper Bible study for high school students desiring to grow in their relationship with God.
  • Tuesday: 6 p.m. SLAM large group Bible study for ages 11-13
  • Thursday: 6 p.m. High School large group Bible study for ages 14-18.
  • Friday: 7 - 10 p.m. Basketball Outreach.
  • Saturday: 7 - 10 p.m. Basketball Outreach.
  • Sunday afternoon: Football Outreach.

Recreation is one of our greatest tools when reaching out to the youth of our neighborhood.  Each Friday and Saturday night our basketball court is open so youth from all over our neighborhood can play basketball and then benefit from a Bible study in the middle of the evening.  It is our goal to have Castle Rock open to give youth a safe place to gather and be introduced to Jesus. Our Sunday afternoon football games are also a big hit with men from all ages participating.  The young guys versus the old guys’ football games even fill the stands with church members on a nice afternoon.

All activities are held at 1529 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd in New Orleans, LA 70115

Schools of Excellence:

Education: Urban Impact provides supplemental educational opportunities for the youth of our neighborhood through Tuesday night homework help and Urban Impact Leadership Academy
Tuesday night homework help, assists students from our partner school with their homework.

Urban Impact Leadership Academy is a small school for young people who are; not reaching their full potential in the traditional public school environment, may not have the academic record or the funds to obtain a traditional private school education, and are considered at-risk of not graduating. This programs supplies a stable environment to help students reach their potential.

A home their family owns:

Urban Impact and Castle Rock Community Church are seeking to develop "points of light" within our neighborhood. These "points of light" are homeowners committed to serving God within their neighborhood. We've already seen God transform the neighborhood through our weekly prayer walks, which are going into a second year, and the completion of two homes used for ministry housing. With our partner, TouchGlobal, numerous homes in the neighborhood have been renovated, allowing homeowners to move back into the neighborhood after the flooding from Katrina.

Now we are delving into home ownership. The City of New Orleans awarded us 8 adjudicated properties following the storm. Two of these properties have been purchased by elders of Castle Rock Community Church. The other six will be developed for families to purchase during the next several years. We hope to have at least 10 "points of light" within the neighborhood in the next several years. For more information about this, contact Terry Sistrunk at terrysistrunk087@yahoo.com.
