Phase One is Done!
When we began phase one, it was a STEP OF FAITH. We didn't have the resourses in equipment, tools, finances, laborers, etc.,but God showed up as we knew He would. He provided all that we needed to complete phase one which was the new sanctuary, kitchen, nursery, offices, classrooms, and coffee room. He touched the hearts of people from the north, south, east, and west to come along side of us to impact HIS Kingdom here in Central City New Orleans. He brought 900 missionaries, provided equipment, tools, donations, financial contributions to complete the task. To those of you who were in that 900, we offer our most sincere thanks and gratitude. It is simply amazing to see how God supports and orchestrates His plan. In addition to the plan for phase one, God provided a unique opportunity for us to accomplish a part of our phase two plan- the playground for moms to have a safe place to bring the little ones to hang out. This was completed in one day with just at 300 people in attendance.

Begins January , 2013
Won't you join us again?
We have several parts to phase two- the playground which is already completed, the recording studio, the raised basketball court, and the youth community center. We will begin with the youth community center. One block away is the Calliope Housing Development with 1000 units opening by March , 2013. We want to provide a safe gathering place for teenagers which presently they don't have. Where their is freedom from the influences of crime, drugs, prostitution, etc. We are envisioning sonething like a Starbucks atmoshere with Televisions, music, games etc. during the week, and a place to have "Hip Hop" Sunday Services desined for teenagers.
We are in the process of making plans now, hiring an architect to produce the drawings, gutting the inside, and getting the word out. Once the drawings are complete, we will post them on this page. We plan to be ready to start the week of January 13th, 2013. Keep checking back on this page for updates.
We plan to renovate the old chapel into a new youth community center, so youth can have a safe place to hang
while we get the opportunity to share Jesus with them.
The chapel will be 100 years old in the spring of 2013
How Can You Partner With Us?
1. Continue to Pray for us, the project, God's direction, the neighborhood, laborers, and financial provision, safety and protection from injury during the renovation, etc.
2. Come Serve with us. It is amazing how God uses His people for His purposes. Consider "Yes I will" and what a difference it will make in impacting changed lives here, in you, and in your home and community!!!
3. Prayerfully consider becoming a financial supporter and contributor to " Building A Bigger Porch" We believe God provides for that which He endorses. We are counting on Him to touch the hearts of people to support His will in this neighborhood. Why? Because God always wants the praise, honor , and glory for His stuff!
We are preparing for volunteers to begin coming and partnering with us, for what God has called us to , beginning October 15th, 2011. Urban Impact is an urban ministry of 23 years which serves this community on a variety fronts. We have seen our ministry grow since Katrina and with people coming to faith monthly.
UIM is committed to building a new youth community center. Growth in all ministry areas dictates that we will need to begin building as soon as possible.
Building a Bigger Porch....
The need to build continues
In our community, the porch is the hub of family activities, where grandmothers watch their grandchildren play, neighbors swap stories and parents rest after a hard days work.
For ten years, our facility has been our porch, our gathering place. Now that the first phase is done, we are continuing to move to build a "Bigger Porch" to gather at, in order to share the saving grace of salvation of Our Savior Jesus Christ.
