Mission/Philosophy/Vision

Urban Impact Ministries exists to transform the Central City of New Orleans through Spiritual Development, Christian Community Development and Strategic Partnerships. Spiritual Development is bringing people to Christ. It is showing them that Christ died for them and rose again so that they would have the blessed hope of eternal life. It is discipleship - growing them up in the faith so that they can walk worthy of Christ’s calling. It is teaching them Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Christian Community Development is helping to educate people. It is teaching the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic. It is teaching parenting skills and how to handle finances. It is teaching how to be healthy and live healthy. It is also helping them to find decent and affordable housing. It is helping them find a decent job. Strategic Partnerships is about working with other ministries, agencies, and businesses in our neighborhood that are like minded in terms of helping people and changing our neighborhood. It is about not duplicating services and programs that someone else is already providing – drug & alcohol rehab, gambling addictions, and other addictions.  It is about having work teams from all over the country come down and assist us in doing ministry in our neighborhood. In our community, the porch is the hub of family activities, the gathering place. For seven years our present facility has been our porch, our gathering place for transformation. However, in order to further advance our mission of transforming the Central City, our porch is too limiting.

Central to our vision is a state-of-the-art ministry center that will afford us the necessary space to move on with bringing transformation to the Central City. The Ministry Center will include: 1. A high school-quality gymnasium that will facilitate recreational leagues, youth club activities, large group meetings, and high school basketball games. 2. Classrooms for our present education programs and future K-6 elementary school. 3. Meeting rooms that will be used for current and new programming, easily accessible to our neighbors, and available for community use. 4. A large multi-purpose room that can be used as the sanctuary for Castle Rock Community Church and other large assemblies. 5. Offices that will house the staff of Urban Impact Ministries and Castle Rock Community Church. Along with the benefits of expanded programming is the revitalization that will come to the neighborhood.  As we take a blighted area of Central City and transform it with an attractive new facility, we will also be bringing transformation to the lives of those whom this facility will impact.
