Summer Programs

Beat the heat & stay off the street.

Summers at Urban Impact are our busiest time!  With our neighborhood kids out of school we seek to provide meaningful ways to keep them safe, engaged, and moving forward in their faith journey.  Besides our regularly scheduled youth programming, summer brings many exciting opportunities to our community.

Summer Camp

Our biggest ministry is our annual summer camp. For eight weeks we provide a daily Christ-centered camp for children ages 6-11. Four hours and day, 5 days a week of learning, laughing, praying, and playing. With the help of NOLAImmersion interns and NOLAFusion teams we offer approximately 100 children a day an opportunity to be poured into in loving and meaningful ways. Camp includes a daily Bible lesson, crafts, games, and snacks.  Each week we break out the inflatable water slide for a chance to get a break from this thick Louisiana heat. At the end of the summer there is always a great trip to the New Orleans Zoo. The summer is pure energy and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Every summer we host hundreds of out-of-town guests whose aim is to serve Central City, New Orleans alongside us. They help staff our summer camp, clean/mow vacant lots, participate in basketball outreaches, and go on prayer walks.  They are a blessing to our ministry and our community. Kids Across America

In the summer of 1992, we took our first trip to Kids Across America (www.kidsacrossamerica.org) with 6 boys from the neighborhood. Now that number stands at 50 youth per summer.

Every summer that we attend Kids Across America we look forward to what God is going to do in the lives of our youth.

For many of these young people, this is their first trip out of New Orleans (with the exception of evacuations). From the confines of the inner city to an environment of trees, lakes, and sports activities which they have never experienced, KAA gives us the opportunity to pursue one of our major goals in youth ministry— to bring students to faith and fellowship in Jesus Christ.

Each summer 50 kids and six adults embark on a 13-hour bus ride (each way!) with the expectation that their week of experiences will leave them changed and inspired in their walk with Christ.

This annual trip would never be possible without financial support from our donors. The actual cost of the trip is $340/child, however, we only charge $25/child. This means that each year we have to raise $315/child to make this trip a reality. It isn’t easy but seeing a history of young people come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior while at KAA makes the hard work well worth it.

The summer will be here before we know it! If you are interested in helping us offset the cost CLICK HERE!
